So I got the anger is an energy (from a PIL song) right after Roe v Wade was overturned, and the tattoo artist showed me the pro-choice from her flash (Alina, tattoos at Stingray in Allston) and offered to do it for free if I made a donation to an organization that supports reproductive rights, which I happily did.
The girls to the front is a callback to the show posters in the 80s—bands like Bikini Kill who wanted “girls to the front.” Plus, I have two daughters who are living in a time when their rights are getting taken away little by little, so I want to make sure that they—and all women—keep pushing and taking their rightful place at the front.
